Institution Profile: Cedar Crest College, founded in 1867, was one of the first women's colleges in the nation. Today it remains an independent, comprehensive liberal arts college for women that combines excellence in scholarship and undergraduate education with an extensive Lifelong Learning program that serves women and men in the surrounding region. The College enrolls approximately 1900 undergraduate and graduate students and is nestled on a beautiful 80-acre campus in the western residential section of the City of Allentown, Pennsylvania. The college grounds are adorned with more than 140 species of trees that comprise a nationally registered arboretum. Grounded in the liberal arts with strong offerings in the arts and humanities, Cedar Crest College also has distinctive strength in its science offerings and in the success of its graduates in scientific fields, including biology, forensic science, genetic engineering and biodiversity.
