Location: Penn State Berks is located in suburban Reading, Pennsylvania.
History: From its beginnings as Wyomissing
Polytechnic Institute (WPI) to becoming part of the Penn State system in 1958, the Berks campus has experienced
many changes. WPI occupied the original Sacred Heart Church building on Hill Road, where the McDonald's Restaurant
now stands, from 1930 to 1958 when its facilities were offered to Penn State to establish Penn State Wyomissing Center,
now Penn State Berks campus. It moved to its present Spring Township location in 1972. With the addition of the
residence halls in 1990, Berks became a residential and commuter campus. Student enrollment at Berks campus has increased
steadily since 1972 when approximately 500 students attended. Today, there are 2824 students enrolled.
Berks campus includes 15 buildings on 258 acres of land.

offering baccalaureate and associate degrees and certificate programs taught by Penn State faculty. We are… a

Campus Life: Students can get involved with more than thirty
special-interest clubs and organizations; intramural, cub and varsity athletics; a range of theatre, arts and entertainment
options. Penn State Berks combines the advantages of an intimate campus setting with small classes and individualized attention
with the vast resources that only a major research university can provide.
Baccalaureate Degree Programs: American Studies, Applied Psychology,
Business Administration, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Elementary and Kindergarten Education, Global Studies,
Information Sciences and Technology, Kinesiology, Organizational Leadership, Professional Writing, Science, Security
and Risk Analysis.
Plus… the first two years of course work for more than 160 baccalaureate degree programs that can be completed at one or
more of the following locations: Penn State University Park; Penn State Harrisburg; or Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.
Associate Degrees: Agricultural Business, Business Administration,
Electrical Engineering Technology, Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, Information Sciences and Technology, Letters,
Arts and Sciences, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Occupational Therapy.
